The PSLE is the Primary School Leaving Examination. Pupils write it at the end of primary school, in Standard 7. Exams like this are set by the Botswana Examinations Council (BEC). Papers and rules can change, so please check the official notice for the year your child writes.
For most families it is the first big exam. That makes it a good moment to build calm study habits, not fear.
It is for Standard 7 pupils at any school in Gaborone, and for the parents who help at home. Your child does not need to change school. Lessons sit around the school day.
We talk to your child first and to you second, in plain English, and we never shame a child for a weak mark.
Young children pick up on worry very quickly. Praise effort before marks. Keep practice short and regular rather than long and tiring. If your child is upset, stop and try again tomorrow.
If you are not sure where to start, begin with the diagnostic test. It tells you what to practise at home and what to leave alone.
